Muhammad Zakaria Iqbal is a distinguished Islamic scholar and certified expert in Islamic Finance and Shariah Compliance. A graduate of the prestigious Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi, he completed the rigorous Dars-e-Nizami program and earned his specialization (Takhassus) in Hadith. He belongs to a revered scholarly family, being the grandson of Mufti Muhammad Shafi, the first Grand Mufti of Pakistan and a key figure in the Pakistan Movement.
With extensive experience in teaching and academic research, Muhammad Zakaria Iqbal has contributed significantly to the fields of Tafseer, Hadith, Fiqh, Islamic History, and Islamic Finance. As a Senior Faculty Member and Research Fellow at Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi, he continues to guide students and professionals in Islamic scholarship and contemporary Shariah-based solutions for corporate and financial challenges.
He is also a certified Shariah scholar in Islamic Banking and Finance, holding qualifications from the Centre for Islamic Economics (CIE), led by the globally renowned Islamic finance expert, Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani.
In 2014, Muhammad Zakaria Iqbal joined TPLI Window Takaful Operations as Head of Shariah Compliance. In this role, he oversees daily operations, transactions, and activities to ensure compliance with Shariah principles. Additionally, he serves as Shariah Advisor to Bait-ul-Sukoon Hospital, contributing to healthcare governance through an Islamic ethical framework.
Beyond his academic and professional roles, Muhammad Zakaria Iqbal is an accomplished author and translator. His notable works include:
1. Stories from the Hadith (published in Urdu, English, Sindhi, and Turkish)
2. Tafheem-ul-Muslim (Urdu translation of Sahih Muslim, 3 volumes)
3. Ahkam al-Quran (2 volumes)
4. Minhaj al-Abideen (Urdu translation of Imam Ghazali’s work)
